Hi there - I came across this thread today as I was ruminating on a piece of mean-spiritedness recently suffered.

To recognise the action as mean-spiritedness was a bit of a revelation in that I am only able to recall one other person to whom I have in the past, attributed such a characteristic - the parent who grew the child to adult. The adult who has just dinted my heart so with a mean act.

It was revealing and heartening (somewhat) to read some of the comments - in particular, Monk2400.

I guess meanness does come from a restricted moral sphere, but too I suppose, an unwillingness or an inability to express an (unfavourable) opinion.

We have been close until this last year, but it is too sad that a son who shares with everyone else but withholds the sharing of his most joyous moment - the birth of his first child - with his mother.

I joined to say thanks, I'd like to stay and learn more. zen

QUOTE " THE Hunger Project is a global, strategic organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger by empowering millions of women and men to end their own hunger. The Hunger Project has pioneered low-cost, bottom-up, gender-focused strategies in each region where hunger persists...................................................................no matter how well meaning all these projects are they are all doomed to failure, how long have the leaders of the world been talking about peace ,for how long have the line of POES prayed for peace in the world every EASTER , hundreds of years or more and have we been able to achieve lasing peace in the world ? NO! why ? and the answer to that question is the same answer as to why some people are mean ,,first of all it lies within ALL of us to be mean but in some it is more pronounced than others depending upon family surroundings at birth and throughout
life, we all at birth have within us the qualities of good and evil and throughout our life there is a battle going on between the good and evil, every sensible person who sees what is going on in the world today can see signs that the EVIL appears to be winning every where we look something evil is happening and killing the good ...mans continuing efforts to right himself and the world without the guidance of our creator is doomed at the start , is that just my opinion ? NO! it is the opinion of someone far greater than me or you .
