Fall edition? Either you're six months early or six months late, according to my calendar. Or maybe I've hung it upside down? That would make sense, relatively speaking... laughing

As far as seasonal jokes go, MM, summer better than others. I think you win that one.

Ugh: I wrote 'win', which puts me a mere 'ter' away from another pun, and I didn't go for it. Must be getting slow.

Well, that leaves one more season to be set up and knocked down, and we'll have the set. Oh no; I wrote 'leaves' without a spring/fall reference. I am getting slack. eek

There should be a smiley of someone hanging their head and smacking themselves in the forehead at the same time, while laughing and shaking their head. It could even be a special smiley only activated in threads where Beans gets all punny.

Excellent job on the newsletter, btw. I just got around to reading it. It's improved with each issue, I must say.

Hi Libertygrl,

If you ever need another person to design an issue I'm a graphic designer and would be happy to do so.

that would be awesome, praxis! thanks for the offer!

would you be interested in designing our spring newsletter? currently accepting submissions through the end of february, release date around the first week of march. there are some basic design requirements on the guidelines page but otherwise you're pretty much free to choose the aesthetic. please let me know if you have any questions.

thanks again hug

if anyone has any contributions for the spring newsletter, please send me a private message! here is a suggested topic: flying. any art, photos, poems, stories, essays related to this topic (or any topic) are welcome.

thanks all,

Greetings all,

I will be heading the editing and production of the Coffee Table summer 2008 issue.

I am proposing the following theme:

Shakespeare's The Tempest.

If possible, submit a piece that reflects a theme found within or related to the themes of the Tempest.

For those not familiar with this work, here are some highlights:

    A distant island
    A shipwreck
Betrayal (of brothers to brothers, Dukes to Kings)
    Deception
Magic--magical books, incantations, familiar spirits, sprites, faeries, strange voices on the air, heavenly music, dark magic
Young love--a virgin woman who has seen no man but her father, a young prince thought dead at sea
    chaos, calamity
    revenge, retribution for past wrongs
    playful jest
    monsters--the spiteful 'moon calf' Caliban

Submissions on any of these or related themes would be excellent. We can weave a new 'tempest' in the teapot on the Coffee Table, for summer 2008.

cheers,

8)
