Subject: practice posting pictures
rather than deleting this thread, i decided to use it to share some brief general instructions on posting images. to post an image:

1) find a website that will host your image. (you could try http://www.photobucket.com, for example.)

2) upload the image to the image hosting website.

3) find out the URL of the actual image (for windows users you can often do this by right-clicking on the actual image from the page it's hosted on and then selecting 'properties'). you can test the URL by copying and pasting it into the 'address' box of your browser (and then pressing enter to go to the actual URL) - make sure the link actually works, and displays the image all by itself.

4) to display the image in your post, paste the image link (the URL) into your post, preceded by [ i m g ] and followed by [ / i m g ] (remove the spaces). these are special "WSN codes" that tell the page to display the image specified by the link enclosed. (note - photobucket.com has a special feature that automatically adds the image tags on either end of the image url - you just have to select, copy, and paste the text from the appropriate box, "IMG", underneath the image).

here is an example of what the code may look like that you post into the body of your message:

[ i m g ] http://www.thecouchforum.com/attachments/youarehere.jpg [ / i m g ]

or

[ i m g ] img.photobucket.com/albums/.../v200/Photo55/P1010007.jpg [ / i m g ]

again, there should be no spaces there when actually using the codes.

i am happy to host images for you if you have any that you would like to post to the forum - just email them to me (tierrasimbolica@gmail.com) and i will send you the URL.

also, if you have trouble with it any step along the way, please feel free to ask for help.

lib

Hi folks,

I still seem to be posting HUGE pictures - still learning.

The first one is me on a tram in Bilbao, near to the Guggenheim. Nice city. the second one (blurry) is Carol and I in Venice. There are a few snowflakes around us, and just after this the brolly was blown inside out. Nice place though, and so romantic in February, with the snow falling onto the steel grey canals. Cool in every sense.

Cheers, ephotographer.

hi e.,

it's looks like you're getting the hang of posting the photos, that's great! you and your wife are a very cute couple. smiling face

i am assuming that these images probably came from a digital camera, which is why they're so big. digital cameras usually take photos in "high-res" (high-resolution) which is good for making nice prints of your photos but not good for displaying on the web.

i'd be happy to help you sometime with managing their size - just let me know if you feel like tackling some more photo-posting lessons.

smiling facelib

p.s. to send someone an instant message, look on the couch homepage to see who's "currently online". to the left of each person's name there is a little picture of a "talk box" which you can click on to initiate instant messaging.

Hi basta,

Cool pic basta, kind of pagan. I'm enjoying this new visual aspect on the couch - it's a feeling of grounding.

Cheers, e

wow yeah it did! its kinda big though. That was us marching through the streets of some austrian town, as you can see the crowds here were immense.......

and this is the club we managed to find in the town we were staying in. The one and only club I believe. Don't even ask about the jeep...

sloth

edit, ummmmmm, why is it so big??????

hey sloth, cool pics. but where are you in the band?

the pictures are probably in high-resolution (a preferable format for printing) which is why they end up displaying so huge over the web. it would take some photo editing software to reduce the size.

The last one was on what seemed to be a parade sqaure in this random austrian skiing town. And though it might look as though no-one's watching there were actually pretty big crowds behind the camera...honest.

we play a pretty damn good rendition of bohemian rhapsody
