My pleasure!! I hope to see the coffee table grow and develop into a unique space for creative expression. We certainly have the talent here.

One note--to print out the Pocket Edition newsletter, be sure to choose 'Print on both sides' in your print options. Then you can just fold and go!!

best wishes,

Excellent work MM. I printed and folded the pocket edition and it worked tidily. Good show!

It's nice to see how the Couch is moving forward. I just hope to be able to contribute a little more actively over the next few months.

Cheers all...

Rudi

It's nice to have a couch wide enough to fit everyone, but the low back looks kind of uncomfortable... unless it's a reclining couch, I guess, hard to tell. I notice the logo is a 245kb PNG, you might want to make a JPEG for dialup people.

The newsletter was quite impressive.

the transparency is lost in JPG. it looks better in PNG, IMO. the logo only has to download once, then it's cached for subsequent page views. ideally, the forum itself will give dial-up people stuff to read while they wait for the logo to come in for the initial download (which is currently 35 seconds on a 56K modem; converting it to JPG will only cut it back to 167K, or 23 seconds on the initial download).

i do get the sense that the couch is reclining somewhat. it looks hella comfortable to me. "laid back", if you will. there's a club here in SF called ruby skye that has couches like that in the VIP section, very comfortable. i dig it. thumb up

update - on MM's suggestion, i added a background layer to the logo that matches the background of the html body, so i was able to discard the transparency and convert the logo to JPG. thumb upthumb up

169KB for a JPEG is a bit extreme. Personally I can't see the slightest difference (no matter how far forward I lean) between that and the 35KB version I get saving when I re-save it at 88% quality. For that matter I wouldn't know the difference at 16KB (60%) unless I knew to look carefully.

i took it down to 69k (10 seconds), which i think should be adequate.
