Subject: A new milestone: 100 members
Wow, it seems like just yesterday that we were mostly a crew of castaways before our ship... er, I mean couch, came along... And now we're up to 100 members... not too shabby...

Lib, I just wanted to know, have you been promoting the Couch or is the new membership simply a byperoduct of people chancing upon us?

Also, with this new milestone reached I thought it might be opportune to take a step back and evaluate the Couch, for example: do the current forums continue to meet our posting and organisational needs? The answer might very well be 'yes', but it never hurts to revisit and review our progress.

So what do you all think...?

Rudi

IMMHO, the current forum set-up is not only adequate, but desirable. We have a triune diffrntiation of philo-political, creative, and casual conversation, which suits the Couch just fine.

As anyone can see, weve had a wealth of creative works being postd, and the Gallery forum is not bustin at the seams, so to speak, but is growing in stature. And in what I would call the primary forum, discussion is directd by the intrsts of active membrs, which is great.

I think furthr divisions etc would only be necessary if the active participant list grew to dozens.

best wishes to all Couch comrades!!!!!!!!!!

*peace*

i've been doing more promoting of the site over the last year, including using google's and yahoo's sponsored search listings. i was also able to get it listed with a number of directories such as dmoz.org. word of mouth helps, too.

I'm with the monk on this. ^^

I'm somewhat sorry that I don't find the time and energy to make a strong contribution lately. Exams and stuff.. ya know. But at least I'm still here. smiling face

All hail to the couch!

So how did everyone find this website to begin with? I had gotten tired of not finding anyone in my area who could talk intellectually, so i just typed "Philosophy board" into yahoo search engine and this was one of the two forums that came up. What was your method of finding it?

Now there, my dear Mr. Peabody, is quite a story... a good lot of us actually knew each other from another life, sort of speak, and our getting here was a mix of circumstance with a hint of intrigue (and perhaps even the odd ghost)... Maybe I should let our fearless leader answer this one...

hi mr. peabody,

what rudi is referring to is the fact that the first ten people or so to join the couch were folks i knew at another forum, MPG. i'm pretty sure you're familiar with the story already, i had posted it in my interview thread.

good to hear the sponsored search is doing its job. thumb up

Im proud to say I was the 6th membr to sit my ass on this here couch!! I orignally knew lib from the aforementiond MPG forum, where from a few years I had admir'd, thoroughly enjoyd, and eagrly anticipatd her postings. I was delightd to participate with her and our friends to support the establishmnt of a new, relaxd, creative community forum.

To whit, more of that creativity to come. The next edition of the Coffee Table newslettr will shortly be, er, on the table, come spring. Get your submissions in!!
