Subject: The Couch
Okay, not the couch, but it's a couch. Unfortunately it hasn't been looked after very well lately:

There's something interesting to me about watching ugly human junk slowly disintigrate in a natural setting. That's from this afternoon, as is this:

Plane taking off a few days ago:

And I also like this one from a month or two ago:

at least the leaves have something comfortable to sit on out there. zen i wonder what they're talking about. probably engaging in a lively conversation about that sign that's sitting there with them.

the second photo is my favorite in this bunch. i love the textures and colors of the landscape in the background, punctuated by the sharp black contrast of the metal bars. i also like the contrast on that last one. nice composition all around.

I'm taking that one to the Antique Road Show.

On that same show I saw a couch apprasied at over 300k in value. It did look very nice but not worth my education, an apartment, my car, et cetera.

I'd be afraid to sit on a $300,000 couch, it'd have to stay behind special protective barriers. It's interesting how the value of things can be so ludicrously arbitrary, with no relation to the utility. (Not that I don't play along, I've got a good sized baseball card collection.)

being from a bit of a red neck family, the junk scene has always been a part of my life.

when I heard the joke "you know your a redneck when you mow the lawn and find a car" it was too familier.

Also "when the front porch collapses, and it kills more the ten dogs, you might be one.

To be or not to be... a geek or a redneck.

Iammy, you seem too intelligent and poetic to be called a redneck. Of course I can't see you, but I assume you don't own any guns or engage in incest or worship George B.

You rather look like the Sam hobbit from LOTR. I'd say the hobbits are country folk and may to some degree intermarry (cousins and such), and the leaving of junk in the yard is just a symptom of our cheap material age being thrust upon the carefree traditions of a people who haven't had very much in the past and therefore don't know what to do with so much stuff.

You can't take my guns man. I'll give up my mtv though.
I guesse I am "the next generation" type of redneck, the new mold from California. I can't stand my reletives so that keeps me from having sex with them I guesse.
As for the politics I am a tree huggin, chainsaw wiedling contradiction of a hobit/redneck freek. and I didn't once vote for a rebublican.

I used to be a tree climber for a living, cutting down trees all day, and secretly speaking to their spritits as I watched them go to the next relm. I love animals enough to admire them and protect them, and shoot and eat them too. I am going to post some of my junk to try and take the focus off my neck here. I'll take some pic tomorrow. And you made me blush even redder with your comments,
thank you for the compliments.

Iammyaspectofus,

I don't think of you in red neck terms. I love those jokes by "Jeff Foxworthy. You know your a red neck if you take a
beer
to a job interview. I thought a lot of old hippies went to Oregon& Washington in those psychodelic vans. You aren't old enough to have been a hippie though.

hi iammy,

what you have to do to show an image is post the url of the image and put after the url (no spaces). it's case sensitive; i notice your image has capital letters for the file name. like this only take out the spaces:

Ok thats too big, I'll have to scale the rest down. whats a good image size lib?

Anyway this is the couch in the back of the pick-up out in front of my house. At least it is contained here and has not been released back into the wild. Later I will release it in a controlled environment designed for the retirement of older durable goods. It lived a full life.

These are great, iammy. If that couch could talk. Think of the sevice they do giving us comfort. Yes, she has had a full life and deserves a nice retirement. Your pot garden is nice.

I bet your wife likes her office you built for her. It looks solid, warm, plus very cozy.

Thank you iammy, for sharing. I enjoyed them. Maybe you are a little red neck. smiling face

probably around 500 pixels wide is good for displaying in the thread. if you ever want to share bigger photos, you can also just post text links to the images, or as in paul's case, make thumbnails (but thumbnails a little more complicated).
