I hadn't noticed that specific suggestion, 'The Coffee Table.' Makes a lot a sense for sure, and it's got a really nice ring to it.

It gets my vote.

Hi lib et al,

Nice graphics on the 'coffee table' link!

Re contributions, I don't have anything boiling up at the moment, but maybe you could use me as a general dogsbody. If you need anything on a particular topic or to fill a gap, just give me a brief and I could do what I can.

Cheers, e - menable. grin

Im changing my opinion.

I think 'Coffee Table' would be fine. I see a theme arising.

Id go for 'Ottoman' as runnrup.

Ok I got some questions and confessions. I don't know if I have ever read a newsletter. Does it need to be news and if so news to who? Can any article, story type thing work? I would guesse a mildly interesting topic and style is preferred.

hi doug,

any type of story, article, essay, poem, review, etc, will be acceptable. it can be fictional or non-fictional. whatever you like.

p.s. for everyone's information, if your word processor does not have a word count feature (most of them do), you can use this website to check your word count. just paste your text into the box and click on "count words".

If we are to have hard copies circulate, and push to make this newsletter, at some point, a 'tried and tested' part of the independent newsmedia circuit, this could use some funds.

Susan, are you planning to request donations at some point in time to this effect?

I'm quite prepared to put my money where my mouth is and contribute on the financial front.

my approach toward the newsletter is to just take it one step at a time. it's virtually impossible to predict what direction it will take at this juncture. i would love to see the newsletter grow in its distribution so, whatever needs to happen will happen.

thank you for the offer, we'll see how it goes.

The subscription address doesn't seem to work (probably related to the server change).

Hi Lib et al,

Would it be appropriate to include a review of a new philosophy book in the newsletter or would that be too commercial?

The book is by a guy (Azrienoch) who posts on a couple of websites, although he hasn't found the Couch yet. He has sent me a very well produced proof copy to review and I'd like to help him in some way, as the book is well written and highly readable. It is written in varying styles, from philosophical prose, through poetry and allegorical stories, all working on one theme, which is the failure of logical reasoning to explain our human experience.

I don't have a personal angle on Az's book, I just like to see someone making the effort, all on his own. He will be publishing it through Lulu, and I guess interested people would have to buy it directly from the author.

Would we be interested?

Cheers, e smiling face
