Oct. 25th we showed the 2000 movie after church. The movie is almost 2 hours long and adult Sunday school is usually just a bit over 1 hour. Nov. 1 will be the discussion.
I hope that will be an interesting discussion Nov. 1. So far one person raised a question right after the movie was finished, "Was Judas forgiven for his part?", and I mentioned that the same question has been raised about Pilate. I can see one difference, Judas died before Jesus asked his father to "forgive them" and Pilate survived and died later, and was presumably included in those to be forgiven. But since Judas died before, was he included in the request for forgiveness, when Jesus was on the cross?

BTW, my one thought is that both of them were doing what they were supposed to do, so how could you condemn them for playing their parts. Did they have any choice in their actions?

Subject: FORGIVENESS ?
you asked some very good questions there doc thumb up.

1st: ESUS said that EVERY sort of sin will be forgiven a man except sin against the holy spirit .

2nd : JESUS when on the cross asked GOD to forgive those who did that to him .40 years later the roman armies invaded ISRAEL and took Jerusalem and burned the temple to the ground and after killing thousands of JEWS and took the rest into captivity to be dispersed throughout the roman empire...did GOD forgive them ?.

3rd : the JUDAS question is a very good question because if JUDAS was foreordained by GOD to betray JESUS to fulfil prophecy in the old testament that he would do this ,would he be condemned for doing what he was ordained to do ..id like your take on this doc thumb up

4th in the end all who ever died out of Christ will stand before the judgement seat and will receive correct judgement for all that they did while in the body whether it was good or whether it was bad and receive a just sentence but those in Christ have had their sins forgiven by GOD and will not receive judgement unless they deliberately sin for then they will have to stand before the hudgement seat of Christ .
