What if the world threw you a birthday party, and you weren't invited?

I would know and would be glad for the world which rejoices because I rejoice with it!

Interesting attitude, that of a positive person as opposed to being negative. zen

Interesting question. Birthdays are time specific. They come, they go. Yet one thing remains, and that is the question: What is time? In the human, physical sense it is transitory. In a non-atomic universe or dimension, it may be completely different. My question is this: If after this mortal existence, will there be a need for birthdays? I pray not.

It is my understanding that eternity is existing outside of time, or in a timeless state. So everything that happens, happens now and there is no past or future. A birthday, which is time dependent, would be a meaningless concept.

Doc, your reply holds a lot of truth. Your position is well taken. Personally, I am intrigued by the concept of "Timelessness." Trying to understand it with a finite brain can be frustrating. Time to expand the pre-frontal cortex, and go from finite to infinite, expand our consciousness, and transcend time and space. It will be a most interesting voyage to say the least.

Thankyou, I am only questioning your use of the word infinite, it seems that you are using it in the same way I am using eternal. I see finite and infinite as two opposites of the same continuum, since they both deal with the physical dimensions of distance and time, and eternity as something else that is not part of that continuum. Just want to be sure we both understand what is being said.

Doc, my use of the term "infinite" as it may relate to timelessness is predicated on Einstein's theorem that nothing in our universe moves faster than photonic energy. He believed both that the speed of light is a constant, and that the closer an object, whether mass or wave, reaches its speed, time slows down. If true, then one can extrapolate a terminus ad quem where time stops, and timelessness exists. Your use of the term "eternal" is very applicable, in the sense that it would include other dimensions also, notwithstanding the one in which we live. Your "Right Now," construct [no past...no future] is very tenable and appealing.

Doc, after further review, I agree that the terms "infinite," and "eternal" are in essence and fact two different words, with two different definitions. Parts may overlap, due to semantics, but nonetheless, they remain different.

I'd be happy that I wasn't invited, because the whole world is way more people than I'd want invited to my party.
