Subject: On Loss... And Hope
I know I've rambled on and on about the effect of human greed, selfishness, and apathy. I still strongly feel that humans will always struggle with those qualities. You can call it the sinful nature of man, the state of being imperfect, or whatever else works for you.

Maya Angelou passed away yesterday morning. I didn't find out about it until just now, but I can't get over it. I never knew her personally. I never talked to her. I never shared meals with her. I never lent her a cup of sugar when she had run out. Still, she was one of those people whom you didn't need those activities to feel close to.

Sometimes, it's on days like these that I see other sides of the human nature. Charity, selflessness, empathy... seeing these all spread from the loss of something important that most of us had taken for granted, I realize something more. With every tragedy we've faced, sure, there's been feelings of rage and helplessness, but after we recover from our ordeal there's also an underlying sense of determination, love, and hope.

Your song was sung beautifully. You'll be missed.
