Subject: Fame, Fortune, and Romance
Fame, Fortune, and Romance anyone? As for me I have no claim to fame, nor from the elusive butterfly of love. But as for fortune, yes, and for which I am very grateful. Fortune has its limits though, and the old saying, you can not buy happiness, most certainly holds true. Driving around the island of Maui in a Cadillac hardtop convertible, by myself, does not confer happiness. Having a 1975 Chevrolet, and a special lady friend with me would be more ennobling, much more. As for fame, I have met those that would qualify, most of which are in the entertainment field, either here in Florida or California. Are they happy, maybe? So much of their life style revolves around partying, sex, and drugs. But fame is fleeting, very fleeting. Here today, but then gone tomorrow. So what do you think about the subject of Fame, Fortune, and Romance? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Go for it, whether it be good, bad, or ugly, it all counts here on The Couch Forum. Sincerely, Wentworth DeHavilland

SUNLIGHT, thank you for responding. In addition to the words of Jesus, regarding earthly wealth (How does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?) He also asks the question, "What would a man give in exchange for his soul?" In regard to the present day, or tomorrow, He said take no thought, and be not anxious. To me this makes a lot of sense. Regardless of what a person thinks about Jesus, He did know a lot about human nature. There is truth in what He taught, if only a person is willing to listen. Philosophy websites, by and large, are full of atheists and agnostics, who endlessly use logic and reason to try to come to the so-called TRUTH, or definition of REALITY. The end result is nothing but a plethora of personal opinions. Is that what you call a "Truth Seeker?" Seeking, but never finding. How sad. Sincerely, Wentworth

Fame the ephemeral, Fortune the hole that can't be filled, and Romance the happy freak accident.

Aristotle had the right of it when he advised, 'everything in moderation.'

And you know this how? Have you died and gone to heaven, Damn! they'll let anybody in, well that's good news for me. But then you post like someone who's been dead for a few years, or did some woman preacher tell you that? You're just a sucker for a skirt, aren't you?

I seem to remember others that, according to the Bible, were taken up into heaven. Enoch, Elijah, Moses, Mary. Or is this just a little mix up on the part of those who wrote the Bible? Perhaps the writers didn't hear God's word clearly? Just as you couldn't see the inscription in the Bible that wasn't meant for you.

QUOTE THE DOC : I seem to remember others that, according to the Bible, were taken up into heaven.......................So what are you saying doc ? are you saying the JESUS was wrong when he said no man has been to heaven hmm ? and please show me the passage where it says MOSES went into heaven , but what the bible actually says is the following .......,,,,..DEUT 34:5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
And he was buried in the valley in the land of Moab over against Beth-peor; and no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. .......And so we yet again see that what a worly church christian says and what the BIBLE teaches is completely different .

So the Bible-Thief got one, but that still leaves Enoch, Elijah and Mary, but I'm sure you will dismiss Mary because she was a woman and has no standing with you. Enoch and Elijah prove that whoever wrote the alleged words of Jesus, got it wrong because Jesus would never make a claim that was wrong, unlike you.

That sounds like a very good idea. Thanks. BTW, I'm expecting Jesus to come by and help run the trains.

Perhaps I'll see if my pastor's husband wants to run trains as well. We'll need to get permission to speak in church.

Sunlight and I have a history that goes back to a forum that has been shut down for other reasons. I made comments disagreeing with some of the things attributed to Paul in his letters, and Sunlight has extrapolated that to being anti-John and Jesus. On the other hand I have taken Sunlight's account of how he acquired his Bible and now refer to him as a Bible-Thief. But mostly I just ignore his posts as no longer worthy of a reply. I do not believe that condemnation was the message Christ was bringing to us.
