Subject: The Couch conceals something
Few may have noticed this and it wasn't for a lack of curiosity for what might lie behind and under those cushions. Seldom was change found and much less so than bits of fluff, pebbles and dust.

I'd like to propose there is an enigma sealed up inside the thing you've been sitting on all this time, while drinking coffee and shooting the breeze. The emptiness of this place is possibly due to atmosphere of a death it resembles.

As with a child looking upon a grave, or a box or an egg, comes the aching curiosity unbounded to see its center. Unfortunately, the nature of its concealment puts such options out of reach. You may not dig up Mr. Wiggles, your dead Dauchshund, without a sense of grave defilement (intoxicating though it is).

And so, as a boy I must sit, on this ship with a cargo one can't well fathom, as if it were nothing more than those curious rods of fission in crumbling buildings on the rim of the great Pacific. They are just objects, material, emitting nothing visible but death.

Sail on sweet vessel, oh floatable couch, to new shores and the vast plains of oceanic emptiness.

Ahoy! there sea faring stranger. I didn't see you sitting there. Damn that expresso smells good.

That terrible whisper on the wind says of that locked away domain:

"Only your death may tell."

I must refrain from knowing then, for custom says do not listen to the whispers on the wind and the better reason stands: I want to live.

Let us then just drink coffee, and think of other things, of shoes and ships and ceiling wax, of cabbages and kings.

If you're referring to the pattern at the center of the couch, I noticed early on but wasn't sure that it was intentional.

'Takes one to know one' so there! OK, so what were you referring to? Put up or shut up.

Yes, ahoy! To the emporium, the one showcasing gold inlaid rings! The shoes? Aboard, with my stilettos I dance, climb the mast, and sail.

Love this Nihil! I'm thinking about making the whole Couch viewable to members only. What do you guys think? Might attract fewer spammers that way?

Butt cheeks in the couch cushions are great thumb up

(Miss you Nihil and hope life is treating you well! Every time I feel nihilistic I think of you heart clap - this is a compliment by the way because I don't think I truly understood nihilism before I knew you and now I feel like I have a much better grasp of it. So when I feel nihilistic now it reminds me of our conversations at MadP and Couch early days and I feel sentimental at the same time.)

Making the forum viewable to members only may have some positive benefits. As long as we may keep using this resource and platform to communicate, I'm glad to support what may be most useful in enhancing the environment and maintaining its functionality. smiling face

Hi PK thank you for weighing in on this question thumb up I am planning to proceed with it as soon as I confer with Paul on it. Forum will be viewable to members only and new members will be invitable by existing members. Hopefully this will reduce our occasional spam problem.

And thank you for the appreciation thumb up This forum was initiated because I myself was in need of such a place at the time. A place for people who like to think about things. Got away from intellectualizing for a while to rack up some more life experiences to think about. Time to integrate again. I look forward to getting to know the newer regulars here and reconnecting with longtime friends zen Long live The Couch heart

About the naked lady's naked ass in the main site header graphic...

If I were going to sit on this couch, I would sit with my butt right in line with this one we "see" here.

I'd sit and think aloud, "ass to ass" before I'd then remember that heinous (say, "hey, anus" aloud) scene at the end of Requiem for a Dream (Aronofsky, 2000). (If you've seen the film in full, you likely remember this scene, it's famous.)

Monk says that's not it.

Not just the mind, I claim to be an authentic D.O.M.

Then it has to be something with the papers on the coffee table in front of the couch.

BTW, my grandkids call me Grumpa.
