Subject: Popping in for a sec
Been radically busy over the last few months with school, work, volunteer activities and a new relationship. Haven't had much time to keep up with couch stuff and to be honest, haven't given much thought to philosophical topics as a whole over these last few months. Just wanted to stop in for a minute & say hi to everyone and I'm glad to see the discussion wheel continues to turn without me.

Welcome Vagabond who is a returning couch member and hopefully as my schedule permits I'll be able to jump back into the thick of things at some point. Meanwhile, enjoy yourselves & be good.

Well just drag your honey onto the couch (This one, not the one in your home, That's for later.) and he could help you with your posts, and maybe post his own ideas. (I know I shouldn't assume he's a 'HE', but I don't know any better, and I don't want to refer to your friend as an 'IT'. This place could use more active contributors.

Alright I'm just going to jump into this. I'm on other forums where there are openly lesbian women, and a forum where there are openly gay men, and I want to be all open minded and say that's OK with me. But when Lib. (a woman) said her friend was a man, I was happy for her, or relieved or something. It's like part of me wants to say it's OK but there is that voice in my head saying 'no it isn't". I know where the voice comes from, my past and most of the people around me when I grew up would have disapproved.

There is a similar situation with my daughters, we are Caucasian and I say I would have no problem if one of them were dating a black man but I don't know how I would really feel if it actually happened. The older girl is married and I think permanently, but the younger was married and is divorced, still a possibility. These kind of questions make me wonder just how unprejudiced am I? Am I actually a closet Archie Bunker?

aw, you were just happy for me because deep down you know i'm straight lol, right? and maybe you're conditioned toward certain things but the fact that you're wondering out loud about this tells me you would make certain efforts to adjust if the time came. thumb up

Have you ever watched the movie "Polar Express" you don't need to be a kid to watch it. My grandson used to ask to watch it everyday he was with me, about 4 or 5 days a week, for about 4 years, and now the grandaughter is asking to see it, but not as often. There is a scene where the boy is talking to the ghost HoBo on the roof of the train car, and the boy says "I want to believe, But", and like the boy I don't want to be prejudice, but am I?
