Subject: Be The Change...
In Honor Of Boston: Be The Change...

This always makes me start to cry
My last tears hadn't begun to dry
We say we want the last to be the end
And, yet, you find us here again
Friends and family injured or dead
Some blame those sick in the head
Yes, some blame the bombs, the guns, the people
While others send prayers under a steeple
Others still are just wondering Why -
- Before their time, must people die?
People wonder, people blame,
People pray in their Powers' name(s)
And yet, overall, they do not change
Except to become more deranged
Repeating each and every mistake
The limits of stupidity continue to break
------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not saying I know what to do
I'm not saying that at all
I can hazard a guess or even a few
They all start with change: So answer the call
The darkness in ALL of us is the enemy
We ALL are at fault: We ALL must act
Choosing to open our eyes is the remedy
This is our most important task
Hate, you see, is the biggest disaster
And one that you cannot destroy
You can however choose a different master
Learn to love, my friends, and enjoy

Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.

Hatred and bigotry are a kind of blindness, but most people do not see what is in front of them. Try looking more carefully and more closely, you might be surprised. I can't help you because long ago I learned to see what was there, not what I wanted to see or what others told me was there.

Some people lie, and don't know that they are lying.

??

I don't see what's wrong in wishing for people to choose love over hate, myself included. What do you think would be so frightening about it that you would warn me of it?

I read a Sci-Fi story once about a young man who really enjoyed listening to singers. His own voice was OK but nothing special. One day, listening to some really good singers, he wished that he were the best singer in the world, thinking how great it would be to sing as good as some of his favorites. The next morning he woke up to discover that his wish had been granted, but his voice was no better than before, but all the other good singers in the world could no longer sing better than he could.

I don't know, offhand, what good hate does as opposed to love, but there could be something, as in Yin Yang.

Interesting choice of words "to choose Love over hate" instead of "to feel love over hate"? People can choose to act in a certain way, even if they don't feel that way, and that seems to be a bit false.

Sometimes it's a matter of how you look at things.

What is one good thing about a pedophile?

There are other kinds of loving than sexual relationships. Especially those kinds.

As to a balance, I would agree insofar as to say that suffering can help to produce some good qualities in people. I do not see the benefit of hate, though. Suffering can occur due to circumstances outside of our control... natural disasters, illness... but hate is directly related to our own actions and thought-processes. It hurts ourselves and others.

Would you truly want your grandchildren to feel hate or act out on hateful feelings? What about others feeling hate towards them or acting out on hate towards them? For any reason either party may have?

In my opinion, it is typically better to be "fake" than to intentionally hurt others. I try to put my own hate aside for the few people I truly do hate, in order to work together for a brighter tomorrow.

In our church there is a phrase "Hate the Sin, but Love the Sinner".

If my children or grandchildren felt hate for someone I would hope they could recognize it and deal with it but not act on those feelings. They need to be honest with themselves and be as honest with others as is kind, but kindness should temper honesty and actions.

(My post about pedophiles was a joke, and the answer is. - "They always slow down at a school zone".)

Yea, I know, I get that a lot. But mostly the comment is directed at me.
