Cheese made from human breast milk - would you eat it?

A good number of people in the comments are flat out grossed out by it, and to be honest, it weirds me out too! But why is it gross? Seems like there should be no good reason to be grossed out by it.

Any thoughts?

It all depends on your backgroubd and up bringing. Irecently watched a video.on.a family in.china who.regulary sit down.to.a dinner of worms wbich they obviously relished in.places like thailand and indoneia . Grasshoppers and spiders are considered a delicousy. We eat cows legs and sheeps legs but would shudder at eating human legs. Cannabalism.on.a large scale? And cannabalism.on.a small.scale h m m ?rolling eyes

Lil bitty babies love the stuff (mama's milk).

Can't see a problem with it (breast milk cheese) beyond individual preference and up-bringing.

Would I indulge? Not unless I had to.

oh gosh i think i would have to pass. to me it seems like an intimacy issue, as if the stuff is meant to be a private interaction between mother and child. taking it out of that context seems kin to voyeurism somehow, a violation of boundaries. is violating that taboo what causes the feeling of being grossed out, i wonder? i mean, the commenters are talking about gagging and wanting to throw up. i agree with you sunlight about the way we are conditioned but it's interesting to see people react so strongly against it.

then again, i have seen some people react similarly to the sight of two gay people kissing. conditioning really is a powerful force.

I would probably try the cheese, and might enjoy it.

If cannabalism were practiced, as in some cultures, as a way of honoring the dead person, I would see nothing wrong with it. But where prohibited by law I would not do it, and if it was an accessory to murder I would object and do what I could to put the murderer away.

All milk is breast milk, unless you broaden the category to include such things as soy milk or hemp milk, since I've chosen not to. Therefore it seems to be a species issue that determines our attitudes about consuming the cheese in question. I will admit that I tasted the milk produced for my son, with his mother's permission, of course. I would be much more hesitant to endorse the eating of cheese made from human milk without knowing more about how and why the cheese was made. I would hate to think that babies were doing without breast milk or that women were kept like cows, strapped in production lines with extractors attached to their breasts just so foodies could enjoy a novelty treat. I think we are better off being squeamish of said cheese. BTW, the breast milk didn't taste too bad!
