QUOTE FRO ABOVE LINK

You accept the historical existence of Jesus?

Unquestionably! No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life.”

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."

Einstein was pointing out that as a child he had been taught about Jesus through bible teachings and because of that fact he was "enthralled with the luminous figure of the Nazarene." It may be important to note that he referred to Jesus as a Nazarene and not the Son of God or any other God-like figure. He never did to my knowledge.

Einstein was an Agnostic, not a Christian. Einstein did believe the "person" Jesus may have existed, and it doesn't appear he gave much research time beyond what he was taught in Sunday school to the notion of God because had he, Einstein would have known as we do today that there is not one morsel of concrete evidence outside the bible story that Jesus, as described in the bible story, did in fact live at all. There is no historical record of Jesus.

GOD-JESUS AND SIR ISSAC NEWTON ..

ISAAC NEWTON’S TWELVE ARTICLES
ON GOD AND CHRIST
C. 1710S-1720S KEYNES MS 8, KING’S COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE
Artic. 1. There is one God the Father eternal +everliving,, omnipresent, omniscient, almighty, the maker
of heaven & earth, & one Mediator between God & Man the Man Christ Jesus.
Artic 2. The father is the invisible God whom no eye hath seen or can see, all other beings are sometimes
visible.
Artic. 3. The Father hath life in himself & hath given the son to have life in himself.
Artic 4 The father is omniscient & hath all knowledge of future things originally in his own breast, &
communicates knowledge to the son of future things to the son +Jesus Christ, & none in heaven or earth or
under the earth is worthy to receive knowledge of future things immediately from the father except the Lamb.
+And therefore the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophesy & Jesus is the Word or Prophet of God.,

Just because "Eistein, Newton or Leibniz had 'faith,' I should also have it" is not a good motive in my opinion. If Paul, Jesus or Dhruva, Prahlada, Narada and Chaitanya have shown you ecstasy borne out of faith you can have faith to have faith---looking at Science and Philosophy to validate faith is like asking beggars for charity.

It's funny. I went to church today. (For the first time in ages I might add.) Although some of the people there were pleasant and the pastor is a good friend, I can honestly say I am thankful I am not religious. The pastor there is quite a genius (perhaps not on Einstein's level), but that's beside the point. Geniuses have existed in all faiths. This is because knowledge and logic are completely different from faith.

I lack faith, and though at times I wish I could have it, the only reason I'd want such a thing is for comfort. To me, believing a thing for no other reason than it makes me feel good, is not only foolish but also ignorant. (In no way am I implying this is true for anyone other than myself.)

I do not believe in a higher power or a religion because of a serious lack of proof.

Religion/Mythology is not about proof, faith is helpful but I think belief is all you really need. Those who adopt a religion just for comfort are missing the point, Mythology/Religion helps me put the universe into perspective but it doesn't necessarily answer questions.

If comfort is investigated further it comes out to be happiness, pleasure and eternal joy and that is what we all are ever after. Why? Perhaps because it's our nature--we don't need even a single moment of pain and if we want it, it's somehow to gain happiness in the long run---this is what religions, meditation, inner-quest, faith are for, in my humble opinion.

If you just want to avoid pain, there are drugs that will numb the body and the mind, but pain is just one part of being alive.

Drugs will not give eternal joy, more so when you have unlimited number of incarnations.
