Some people believe that the Bible is the imperfect word of God intended for imperfect people, because imperfect people would not understand the perfect word, each to his own?

Each person must find his own way to the truth in his own way. Others who claim to have the truth and insist that it applies to all, only have a truth for themselves.

The 'Word' is the word of God as written in the Bible, it is assumed to be 'The Inspired Word of God' but there are some who doubt the validity of that assumption.

Perfect is a concept of which I have little direct experience. However nature may be considered perfect, except those parts corrupted by man.

Imperfect is a more common experience to everyone.

I read the bible a long time ago. As I recall, some parts of it make good stories. A bit violent and non-civilised to my taste. The plots have aged a bit. The twists are a bit too artificial. I think I'll stick with the sort of fiction I like best: heavy space-opera, hard science fiction, original fantasy. It's true, my favorites lean towards escapism. But the bible has become increasingly escapist, I reckon. I'll grant that it may have been more relevant about 2-3000 years ago, but now? A bunch of bronze-age tales. Might as well pick up persian mythology.

Many believe that the 'word' in {"In the beginning was the word.."} is the ultimate word which is primordial sound 'Aum.' Tao might well be that very sound--the way--the word. Suma Ching Hai considers that the anahat nada--unstuck sound from which universe came into being.

If you read it as Mythology it starts to have meaning and can be corrolated with other Mythology till you see a common source. There is just as much truth as you will find in Parables and Fables but you need to disregard the details, that are just window dressing, and find the underlying meaning. Have you read 'The Epic of Gilgamesh'? there are elements there that were copied in the Bible.

If it's 'core' of being then I see that Vedanta, Vedas, Shankaracharya and others are telling pretty much the same thing about the ultimate Truth.

But dramatically enough: In Vedanta 'I AM THAT' or 'I AM" is considered to be true for everyone--in fact if a cow could speak it--it's true for that cow as well{'realized' cow}--but in case of Bible quotations you have given--it's true of only Jesus and God I think.

Bible quotations can be read narrowly (As applying only to a particular group of Christians), or widely (As applying to all people), and much of the message in the Bible is the same of similar to other traditions.

No, they said that I AM is what it's I AM. They did not say that a name, a form or a set of characteristics or sacrifice by Jesus is Bramh or ultimate reality. In fact, they said that many enlightened beings similar to Jesus have come and gone--all to restore balance and to turn the wheel of Dharma.

I AM means I AM THAT---I am that ultimate reality which resides in the hearts of all beings and I am that creator, preserver and destroyer of universes.

We are not actually talking about this world which is 2000 years old as per the Bible. We are talking about universes, this yuga which is millions of years old and the story in Bhagvad which is at least 3000 years old. If we are all ants relative to great type 4 civilization type aliens(I am referring to Michai Kaku's theories about aliens.) then you won't see much of the balance stored, would you? rolling eyes

Bhagvata says that every Manvantara has a Manu, creation and then Pralaya(apocalypse), then in Mahakalpa the creation is taken back by Mahavishnu--who then continues to play like this with myriads of universes which he inhales and exhales every moment.

And more than that Michio Kaku is an astrophysicist whose theories support Bhagvata Purana stories about aliens.
