What do you all think about Sweden's recent efforts at enforcing gender neutrality?

I personally find the movement to be misguided and may ultimately be harmful. I'm in favor of equal rights and opportunities, but I also think we should recognize, acknowledge, and appreciate gender differences which are not merely a question of how we dress or what sports we like or what toys we play with. It is how our bodies are made and I think it's foolish to ignore that.

Any thoughts?

Man and woman: not synonymous or interchangeable.

There is no neutral gender (physically, biologically, psychologically, etc.).

'Hen' is a female chicken.

'nuff said.

there actually is. there are people who are born without reproductive organs. they're physically and biologically gender neutral. i presume their psychology reflects naturally their physical state.

i agree that man and woman is not synonymous or interchangeable. thumb up

'Intersexed': to my mind, disordered (not a moral judgment, just a statement of what 'is').

If intersex Joseph(ina) demands gender-neutral language, s/he can have it...but only as it pertains to hir.

No *advantage to be had forcing boys and girls, men and women, to go neutral across the board.

*except, of course, for Joseph(ina) who certainly might wanna normalize hes intersex status, and for, of course, the domesticators ('if we can make 'em believe they're all the same, so much the better for us, the politburo!)

Unfortunately for Joseph(ina): living is not fair...some folks get raw deals from the start...such is the way of all things...**eat a bullet or get over it.

**yes, I’m an awful person...*shrug*

This does seem to be taking things just a bit too far. Gender, like nearly everything else, certainly exists on a spectrum, and I am not surprised when individuals do not fit neatly into "male" or "female" boxes. But it does not follow from this that we should eliminate gender-specific terminology altogether. This is taking political correctness to absurd lengths.
