Subject: Do Advertisements Annoy You?
Advertisments pester me in many guises. Sometimes they just annoy me, sometimes they disturb me and at some other times they make me feel that I am a buffoon. Advertisments are most annoying when they're forced. For example: In case of radio broadcasts. In case of any streaming of media advertisments find it their righteous role to come and haunt you from every direction like The Woman In Black does!

I find advertisments very annoying when I don't have an option of skipping them. There certainly are a few services which provide you an option of skipping ads but not all of them are kind. Some of them look like on a mission to make these ads enter into your subconscious.

I am not saying that advertisements are not informative or they're not bundles of astounding creative expressions at times. They have to put a lot of creative ideas in in order to grab your attention, but, this creativity sometimes picks me on!

What has been your experience with advertisements?

"Do Advertisements Annoy You?"

Yes. I've never been motivated to buy because of advertising, nor have I have ever been pushed toward a competing product by the poor advertising of a competitor.

I buy cheap, not brand, and not 'promise'.

I am especially annoyed by ads for medicine. They spend 5 seconds saying the name and what it's for then the rest of the ad on side effects and other gory details that I don't want to hear on TV, my Doctor can tell me that if needed. On the other hand If I were selling pharmaceuticals I'd be all for it, every Hypochondriac with a TV would be at their doctors wanting that drug. Maybe thats why I can't get an appointment when I want one.

yes!! i hate those pharmaceutical ads.

it's pretty rare that i will buy something because of an advertisement, but they don't really annoy me in general. i feel like they have a valid function, which is to spread the word about someone's product or service. i agree that it's annoying when you can't get away from them. 2 biggest pet peeves when it comes to advertising: 1) telemarketers, especially the ones who have no qualms about lying right off the bat like asking for the owner and saying it's an urgent call. really? like that's going to make someone want to hear what you're selling. the sad thing is that it must work on people because they keep doing it. 2) those ads that they put at the beginning of DVDs and nowadays you can't skip past it to the menu. shaking head

I am very annoyed by Youtube advertisements. Youtube videos which have advertisments just in the beginning or in between of videos without an option to skip them are just pain in my opinion. Internet was not as dramatically compulsive with advertisments as TV was, but now internet is catching up pretty fast it seems.

Yes, advertisments which are inescapable in the beginning of DVDs are equally annoying. The telemarketers pretending to be telling you something 'urgent, important and exclusive,' calling you day after day after day seem hell-bent on testing your patience, bring you to the threshold and let you practice 'forgiving', the great spiritual practice.

Then there are those Email services which subscribe you, rather than you subscribing them, in inexplicable ways, and then you start getting flood of advertisments in your inbox, only to discover that Unsubscribe link in their mail doesn't work. You are left with only choice to put their mail-Ids in spam filter.
