'We seems' and 'influsx' are deliberate? I mean, you do not see typos from Henry's keyboard very often. Is it you Henry? disapproval

Come, come, whoever you are.
Wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving — it doesn't matter,
Ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come, even if you have broken your vow a hundred times,
Come, come again, come.

From the looks of it: the visitors, and those who've recently signed up for this death march, are 'philosophical' types ('Coherentism'...coherentism?)...nuthin' wrong with that.

Thinker, you ought to have a time with them...Phlog would have enjoyed the 'company' too... whatever

"Why, Henry, you seem less-than-gruntled by all these 'philosophical' types. Are they a problem for you?"

No, not really...I just find the formal exercise of 'philosophy' to be as boring as pig shit (and as just a smelly).

For example (and forgive me, I'm not picking on any one here): it's long past time to lay to rest the tired old carcass of 'free will'.

As concept (a will free of all internal and external influence), 'free will' is absurd. As *semantic mistake (trying to fit the reality of the 'chooser' into the box of the placeholder instead of simply picking a more appropriate placeholder) 'free will' is irksome, leading to all manner of other absurdities.

And yet: there's a fresh thread devoted to yet another dissection of the fiction of 'free will' (a fiction as worn out as its polar opposite, '**determinism').

But, I'm being an unwelcoming schmuck here...all you (temporary) refuges from 'there' are utterly welcome 'here'...I hope you find the stay (however short or long it may be) a pleasant one... wink

*an error in logic and sequence: placing the placeholder before the phenomenon (the cart before the horse)...properly: the phenomenon comes 'first', the placeholder meant to stand in for the phenomenon 'second'.

**at least, if seen properly, 'determinism' still has teeth...the error, of course, is believing because you and me live in a determined universe that events (and individuals) are pre-determined (to fall or progress like a line of dominos tipped off on one end and speeding to an obvious conclusion at the other). Nothing could be further from an accurate assessment of how the world (or the individual) 'works'.

Free will or no free will, along with determinism is going to depend a lot on how you define all the peripherals.

Just to avoid confusion: There was a time when a bunch of hackers were posing as Henry and writing derogatory hogwash for all of us in form of PMs and posts.

Such stuff is instantaneously deleted. But there is a fair chance of my remembering an episode in which someone was abusing all of us with PMs. Now calm down, that was long ago. smiling face

And this crap was coming from someone posing as 'me'?

I mean: they identified themselves as 'Henry Quirk'?
