Subject: Not Quite Simple Rhyme
Tell me why the world's so cruel
Enlighten me and just explain
Why the good must suffer while the evil rejoice
Why the laughter is overwhelmed by the pain

How is it that evil flies free as the bird
That has never known the meaning of cage
And the few of us who want a peace
Are left to face the resulting rage

Must the innocents be surrounded by hatred
In order for life to try to exist
Why can't a pen with our heartfelt words
Bring down a sword in our clenched fists

I want to rise above all of this
And see the truth in living
I want to make a change in this world
To make it fit to live in

Whether or not I succeed or fail
Will become known in time
Because I am here: now and forever
Recorded in this not quite simple rhyme

This one was written over a year ago. lib's recent thread regarding fairness and justice in the world inspired me to share it. Personally this is one of my best efforts... I think.
