Yes; he knew something was'funny', but was not sure what; thus he was suspicious. Ironic as it is, he was evicted from the house later after a minor dispute with another house-mate; had the same little tiff occured involving a White, it would have been nothing and been forgotten.

A neurotic is trying to keep things closed in, the paranoid is the opposite, trying to keep things from closing in.

Nice distinction!

So, do you think that the neurotic sees enemies within, the the paranoid without?

Nancy Drew:''2. Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeatedly lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure;
As though truth and lies were different... Lying is not illegal except in recorded contracts or in court.''

Quite true Nancy. But then any idiot can tell the truth. It takes skill and cunning to tell lies and get away with it. Politicians prove this rule on a daily basis. Certainly so here in the UK. But they keep getting caught with their pants down. In more ways than one. laughing

I'm not sure I'd agree with all interpretations of "Any idiot can tell the truth." The trivial truth, the partial truth, yeah.

"I caught the 38 bus on Geary at Powell." (Let's say that in fact I did that. Then let's call it an instance of trivial truth.)

Q: "What went on between you and your brother just after lunch?" A.
"My brother and I had a disagreement."
(Not stated: "That disagreement was followed by a fist fight." We could call that an instance of a statement of partial truth.)

Easy to do.

But could someone write a wholly true, interesting, story of his or her life? Or even of the history of a single day?

This can be made even harder if we say, "Not just not false. True."

If I was driving the bus I'd probably take a wrong turning Zum. I've done it on numerous occasions to the chorus of 'Where the hell are we going driver?' To which I respond, having been daydreaming.... 'Having to take a detour for roadworks' A small 'lie' but it shuts up the gullible passengers. Why? Because I am their 'God' driving their bus through life and there's no questioning my apparent 'wisdom' Even if I am lying through my teeth.

Life is full of 'roadworks' not to mention potholes.
It tends to knacker the springs on your suspension. wink

This bus driver analogy is a good one; 'make it up as you go' is an important part of psychopathy.
