I'll start.

This one reminds me of a book I recently read. 'House of Leaves'. The main character was partly based on the guy who took that shot. Won a big award, didn't it?

How'd you like that book, Willem? I recently re-read most of it, though skipping all of the "editor's notes" and just reading the Navidson Record parts. I think it's brilliantly told, and a mesmerizing story. Do you think there was anything concrete the house was a metaphor for, or was it purposely vague and confusing so as to be more terrifying (people are more scared of things they don't understand)?

It was an incredibly original and intelligent book. I must admit I never quite worked up the effort to go back every few pages to read a footnote that you had to look for 'just somewhere'. I probably lacked a bit of the full experience. On the other hand, this seems to be a book to read and re-read a few times, front to back, back to front, starting at the middle... unconventional in a word.
I suppose it could be a metaphor for a great many things. The house itself, the book, the fuzzy relationships and perspectives of the writer-characters. - metaphores all over.
I think the most obvious metaphore one is the house as a metaphore for the human mind. Or a specific human mind - an empthy, psychotic one.. the mad mother's one, perhaps?
